Study line, shape, volume, texture, perspective, light, shadow, proportion, and compositional space while experimenting with layering and blending while working with pencil, charcoal, pen, and ink. Develop skills in various mediums by painting from still life, natural forms, interiors, the human figure, and abstract exploration. Learn painting techniques of blending, textural underpainting, glazing, and transparency while working with watercolor, acrylic, and oil.

For the student who has taken several clay classes and feels comfortable making basic forms. Students should have knowledge of some clay terminology. Expect troubleshooting sessions and a variety of teacher lead demos. Be comfortable working independently on personal or class projects/goals.

Guidelines for Pottery Classes and Wheel Use:
-Working on the wheel requires intensive use of fingers and hands. Please keep nails as short as possible for your ease.
-Clay tends to get everywhere, including shoes. Wear clothes that you don’t mind getting dirty. You are welcome to use studio aprons.
-We have a closed toe shoe policy for safety reasons- no slippers or sandals please.
-Please remove any precious jewelry on your hands and keep in a safe location for the duration of class.
-We Have Animals! Please be aware that there will be a cat and dog free roaming in the studio. We also have a bird, fish, and some chickens!
-If your schedule has changed and you are not able to participate in the class, please let us know as soon as possible.
